My new years resolution was to keep this blog updated with work I've been doing and I need keep that promise to myself. Even if I haven't been updating I HAVE been working. I've been pushing hard in Zbrush the past month and I fall in love more and more with the program. I wanted to make character models that are low poly, mid-poly and high poly along with at least two styles of environments. The environments I'm just doing pieces atm, and they arent even near completion but the characters are all in various stages between being sculpted and retopoed.
Some progress shots of stuff I've been working on:
Some progress shots of stuff I've been working on:
1. Dragon Bird Scene:
I'm starting to do a series of higher res scenes in the style of bird photography, only with fantasy creatures. This was my first test run/sculpt. I want to get all the geo to a manageable level and really push my material creation either in mental ray or Marmoset. This project is a little bit more artsy than the game art I am doing but its good practice with lighting and scene setup.

2. Wolfsbane:
This is a smallish project where I'm aiming for between 8k-12k poly character creation. I have her sculpted out in zbrush already and now I'm in the process of retoping her to get her into a more game ready mesh. She is a character from the X-men team X-factor which I loved as a kid. If I do good job on her I might end up doing the whole team and pose them in the style of a comic cover.

Quickie concept
Paint over for colors on the final model
Finished zbrush sculpt minus some details
3. Autumn Knight(named after the color scheme I will be going for)
She is probably going to be my most ambitious model to date because of all the metal/hard surface work she will require to get her armor and layers looking good. I'm aiming for 12k-20k tris for her as well as weapons and maybe a mount of some kind.

4. Kitty Gal(Felpurr)
Last but not least my low poly Kitty Gal. Shes based off a card from Rage of Bahamut(Baby Felpurr) but I moved away from the concept to push her texture work a bit more. I'm going to make a post about her creation in a few days. She is sitting at about 3700 tris not including her little base. I'm about 99% done with her. Just need to rig and pose her and add some minor props. But her actual model and texture work is done:
